Saturday April 8, 2000-2-5pm, Workshop on Allen Ginsberg's Poetics
Saturday April 8, 2000 - 8pm, Ginsberg Marathon
Allen Ginsberg was an outspoken poet and activist on behalf of civil rights for Gays and Lesbians and other peace and justice causes. Join us for a look at Allen’s life and work and specifically his long-term research projects and how his process can assist contemporary writers to avoid getting boxed in from an overly taxed life; how to be proactive. Some writing exercises will be included based on Allen’s poetics: First-Thought/Best Thought and Elbow Grease = Poetry. Ed Sanders knew and worked with Allen for 36 years and teaches at the Naropa Institute.
The workshop is at SPLAB! on Saturday, April 8, 2000 from 2-5P, followed by the Open Mic Marathon at 8PM with YOUR chance to read on the same stage as Ed!
Suggested donation for the workshop is 30.00, and registration is limited to 30 as SPLAB! is an intimate space. Five student scholarships are available with advance registration.
