8 P.M $5 General Public $2 High School Students Join us for this special event with Boulder, CO poets Anne Waldman and Andrew Schelling in celebration of their new book, Songs of the Sons and Daughters of Buddha (Shambhala paperback, $11.00), a new translation of ancient Buddhist poetry. Written over two-thousand years ago, these simple verses describe in very personal terms the struggles for the liberation of men and women who had renounced the worldly life to follow the path of the Buddha. Anne Waldman is the director of the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at the Naropa Institute. Her latest books include IOVIS BOOK II, The Beat Book: Poems and Fiction from the Beat Generation, and Kill or Cure. Andrew Schelling teaches classes in poetry, Sanskrit, and wilderness writing at the Kerouac School. His book Dropping the Bow: Poems of Ancient India was awarded the Academy of American Poets Translation Prize in 1992. www.splab.org
